The family of Joyce Twins will be having a family graveside service Thursday, April 2, 2020 in the Clinton Indian Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Gerald Panana and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Due to the Corna Virus Pandemic, please respect the family and those around you. Please stay with your immediate family and please keep your families at least 10 feet apart. Joyce Marie Twins was born December 30, 1943 to Harvey Twins and Mariam (Mann) Twins in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed Sunday, March 29, 2020 in the Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford, OK. Joyce was raised in Hammon and Clinton area and she graduated from Clinton High School in 1963. She went to Chilocco Indian School and received a Cosmetology Certificate. She continued her education and received her Bachelors degree and Masters Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She served as a language instructor for the Native American Indian Language Studies at the University of Oklahoma, Southwestern Oklahoma State University and she taught the native language in several high schools. She worked many years for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma; she was a planner for the planning department; the director of the language and library program. Joyce worked for the Cheyenne Culture Center Inc., from 1977 to 1992. One of her highlights while working for the center was teaching “Circle Keeper Children” to sing Cheyenne hymns at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. She was a member if the Indian Mennonite Church, She loved going to powwows and was a traditional Indian Dancer, she enjoyed making shawls and buck skin dresses and Sundance dresses and she loved to shop. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, McClain Twins, Rupert Twins, Raphael Twins and a sister, Minita Twins Runningwater. She is survived by a sister, Lucinda Twins, Taos, NM and two brothers, Lucian Twins, Clinton and Wesley Twins, Stillwater. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
