Funeral Services for Clinton resident Norma Jean Moore, 94, will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Kevin Rayner. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau -Lee Funeral Home.
Marian Norma Jean (Scrudder) Moore was born July 17, 1929, north of Carnegie, OK to Marian Clinton Scrudder and Marie Caroline (Trusty) Scrudder and passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 in the River Valley Nursing Home in Clinton, OK.
She became known as Norma Jean, a shortened name her brother gave her at an early age. The depression hit in the early 30’s and the family moved to Green Forest, Arkansas where her father was called to preach at a Presbyterian Church. The family stayed a short time in Arkansas and moved back to Oklahoma in time for her to start school at “Silver Moon”. Her father being a minister they moved quite a lot. She started school in Cowden, OK, which was a country school and attended other schools in between. There was a shortage of teachers, so she taught her Senior year and graduated from Cowden School in 1947
After high school graduation she went to harvest and drove a tractor for her brother. She soon began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone (SWB) Company in December of 1948. She married Cecil Moore on December 4, 1948, and they made their home in Clinton. She continued to work for SWB Telephone in Cordell for the next five years then transferred to Clinton and retired in Norman, OK in 1982.
She was a longtime and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as Elder for six three-year terms and served a clerk several times. She was an active member with the Presbyterian Women’s Circle. She became a member of the Eastern Star #207 on October 2, 1976, and had served as past Grand Matron.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil Moore in 2011, infant daughter, a brother, Norris Scrudder and two sisters, Nova Dell Barton, and Mona Scrudder and two grandsons, Mickey, and Rickey Moore.
She is survived by two sons, Tim Moore and wife, Shirley, of Arkansas, Scott Moore and wife, Carla, Clinton, OK and daughter, Melodie Fawver and husband, David, Arapaho, OK, brother, Norlan Scrudder, of Oklahoma.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, J.J. Howenstine and husband, Sean, Arapaho, OK, Anthony Moore and wife, Rachel, Clinton, OK, Shane Fawver and wife, Darla, Arapaho, OK and Lindsay Moore, Clinton, OK and eleven great-grandchildren, Chase, Jacy, Catch, and Crash Fawver, Quinn, Karsten, Cohen Moore and Janan, Zoey, Katelynn, and Hannah Howenstine.
