Born on July 11, 1952, in Pampa, Texas, Finley, as his family called him, was the son of Clyde and Betty (Kent) Blount. He graduated from Hammon High School in 1971. After his grandfather's health crisis during his eighth-grade year, Finley took on the responsibility of running the family farm, where he discovered his lifelong passion for agriculture. He dedicated himself to farming wheat and cattle while also exploring various side jobs throughout his life.
In addition to his farming endeavors, Finley proudly served in the Army Reserves as a cook in the 95th Division. Known as Arlos during his service, he had a passion for cooking and delighted in preparing meals for family and friends. His culinary specialties included ribs, baked beans, and the beloved Indian tacos and desserts. His playful saying, “If you don’t eat what I put in front of you, you’re going hungry,” reflected his generous spirit and love for nourishment. On July 18, 2000, Finley married Susan Abercrombie in Wheeler, TX. They made their loving home in Hammon, OK.
Finley cherished his family and community, often sharing his love for watching westerns, quilting, and woodworking. He had a talent for creating beautiful signs that reflected his artistic spirit.
