Funeral Services for Allen Shepherd, 64, owner and operator of Shepherd Home Health and Hospice and Arapaho resident, will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 1, 2024, in the Clinton First Christian Church, officiated by Doyle Kinney and Daniel Mosburg. The burial will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
James Allen Shepherd born December 12, 1959, to Jim Shepherd, Jr., and Betty Jo (Mayfield) Shepherd in Clinton, OK and passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, in his Arapaho home.
Allen was raised in Arapaho where he attended all twelve grades of school and graduated from Arapaho High School in 1978. He continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and received a degree in Health Science, he specialized in Medical Technology and Microbiology. He also had a State and American Farmer Degree.
He married the love of his life, Tammy Davis, on January 5, 1980, in Clinton, OK. They have made homes in Arapaho and Clinton. He farmed and raised cattle for over 45 years. He was employed as a Lab Technician at Clinton Hospital for eight years. He along with his wife owned and operated Shepherd Home Health and Hospice for 18 years and for the past four years they owned and operated Priority Home Medical and the Rocking T and A Cattle Company.
Allen was known to be very generous and was always dreaming up something. He was a member of the First Chrisitan Church. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was a Representative for the National Committee. He achieved the State and National Future Farmers of America Degree and passed that down to all three of his children.
He was a cowboy at heart, and he enjoyed being outside, riding horses, working with, and spending time with his cattle, fishing, hunting, camping, boating, cooking, and smoking food on the grill. He could watch westerns on television by the hour.
He loved the times that he spent with family and having parties. He had a great passion for his grandchildren and loved being their Papa. He coached Little League baseball and would help them with their school projects and their sheep projects.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Dustin Allen Shepherd, brother, Gary Jack Shepherd, father and mother-in-law, Joe and JoAnn Davis and nephew, Buster Loving, Jr., and great-nephew Buster Loving, III.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy, of the home, two daughters, Mindy Moore and husband, Caleb, Arapaho, and Lizzie Shepherd, of the home, son, James Daniel Shepherd, and wife, Kaci, Venice, FL, two sisters, Jan Loving and Gary Millspaugh, Weatherford, OK, and Teri Harrelson and husband Kurt, Clinton, OK.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, James Carter Shepherd, Judd Shepherd, Selbi Shepherd, Tinly Moore and Dustin Moore and a host of other family and friends.
