Kirby Dale Abla, age 79, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Born on August 12, 1946, in Erick, Oklahoma, to Fred Melvin and Rosa Faye (Roles) Abla, Kirby dedicated part of his life to serving our country. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 13, 1977, and was stationed in Germany six times during his service, earning an honorable discharge on February 28, 1993. Among his commendations were the Bronze Star and several honorable mentions for marching, which he took pride in teaching others.

After his military service, Kirby transitioned to a career as a truck driver, where he served for over twenty-five years. His love for nature shone through in his passion for photography, capturing the beauty of mountains, lakes, flowers, and foliage during his travels. In addition to this, Kirby enjoyed working on puzzles and playing card games, with Solitaire being his favorite.

Kirby is survived by his son, Tyler Abla, and Rhiannon of Oklahoma City; his sister, Melva Barker, also of Oklahoma City; and his beloved grandchildren, Silver Abla and Treble Abla.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Rosa Abla, and three brothers, Jerrel, Duane, and Randy.

A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Erick Cemetery, located at 12615 N County Rd, Erick, OK 73645.

Services are in care of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
