Funeral Services for Gene Groschick, 93, longtime Clintonite, will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, July 26, 2024, in the First United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Temple Diehl. The burial will follow in the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Martha Gene Groschick was born November 25, 1930, to Robert Randolph Stanley and Edith Virginia (Smith) Stanley in Beeville, TX and passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, in the River Valley Nursing Home.
Gene was raised in Beeville, Texas where she graduated from high school in 1948. She began a working career as a nurse’s aide in Beeville, TX. She married Erwin Gilbert Groschick, Jr., on January 10, 1952, in Beeville, TX. Mr. Groschick was a career man with C. R. Anthony’s Company Stores, and they made homes in Arkansas City, KS, Bartlesville, OK and they settled in Clinton, OK in 1956.
She was a stay-at-home mom to her three daughters until she started working at S&D Drug Store in 1970. She was a smiling face and a friend to all that shopped at the store until her retirement in 1994.
She had a grandson, Seth, that was fragile and needed extra attention and she became his caregiver until his death in 1998.
She was a member for many years at the First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, Sunday school teacher and served as president of the women’s group in the church. She later joined the First United Methodist Church. She loved nature, bird watching, drinking coffee, visiting with friends and telling stories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Erwin in 1968, an infant daughter, Virginia Ann Groschick, a grandson, Seth Blanchard and, Sidney Beasley and brother, Lynn Stanley.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Evelyn Evans and husband, Jimmy, Carla Sue Miller and husband, Lyle, and Debra Kay Blanchard and friend, Craig Tucker, all of Clinton.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Matt Evans, Julie Littke, Caleb Blanchard, Chase Blanchard, Tyler Daniel and Martha Hunter and three great grandchildren, Addyson Littke, Gavin Evans and Rustyn Evans, sister-in-law, Carolyn Evetts, TX, brother- in- law, Carl Groschick, of OK and cousin, Charles Smith, of TX.
