Mike Beers

Funeral service for James Michael “Mike” Beers, 63, of Custer City will be held Tuesday August 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Putnam, OK. The service will be officiated by Pastor David Beck. Burial will conclude in the Fairview Cemetery in Putnam, OK under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

Mike was born July 18, 1960 to J.W. and Janet Beers in Thomas, OK. He passed away early Friday July 28, 2023, at his home.

Mike was raised in Putnam, OK. He started school in Putnam and graduated from Taloga High School in 1978. He was a gifted athlete and was outstanding in basketball and baseball. He also was active in FFA. He had numerous awards and achievements throughout his lifetime. He worked as a blade operator for Dewey County, owned and operated a truck, and finished out his life operating heavy equipment and farming. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He married Joanna Lynn Mathis on June 9, 2012 in rural Custer County, OK.

Mike had many talents, but his most well-known talent was his musical abilities. He played guitar in several bands and sang.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Janet Beers, and a granddaughter, Jaysea Beers.

He is survived by his wife Joanna, daughter Nicole Warren and husband Brad of Putnam, son Charlie Beers and fiancé Natasha Fish of Thomas, three sisters, Renda Nappier and husband Jerry of Putnam, Marsha Cusack and husband Shawn of Ames, and Robin Justice and David Feaster of Chester, two brothers, Kavin Beers and Curtis Beers of Putnam, 9 grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
