Graveside Services for Nadine Frazier, 99, Cordell resident and local icon, will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 1, 2022, in the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, OK officiated by Rev. Terrell Romberg and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Nadine Elizabeth Frazier was born December 22, 1922, to James and Maudie (Harper) Martin in Bristow, OK and passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, in the Weatherford Regional Hospital in Weatherford, OK. Nadine was the first born of seven siblings (three brothers Paul, Joe, and John) and three sisters, (Lavene, Genea and Sue). She was raised and attended school in Eastern Oklahoma. She married Ray Earl Carley in 1941 and to that union she had two children, David and Janice. The Carley’s marriage ended in divorce in 1948. Nadine then went to work for the John A. Brown Clothing Store in Oklahoma City. With the encouragement of others, she leased the vacated Dotson Restaurant on the West side of the Cordell Square in 1950. In 1954 she married John Frazier and they had a daughter, Tammie. She left the restaurant business temporarily and later reopened “Nadine’s Restaurant” and eventually relocated to the north side of the square. During harvest season she would stay open for the harvest crews. Mr. Frazier passed away in 1984. She retired from the restaurant business in 1986 having been in business over 35 years. In 2011 she made her home at the Baptist Retirement Village. She was honored to have her name engraved on the memorial stone in front of the Cordell Museum stating, “dedicated to the people who have made Washita County great.” She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and Sunday school class; she was well known to be very sociable and love to entertain; she was a member of the Business and Professional Women, the Alpha Nu Sorority, the Chamber of Commerce, she loved going on bus tours, traveling and spending time at the Country Jamboree. She had a great love for helping others and worked numerous hours and serving on the board with Salvation Army. While living in the Village Center she still loved to socialize and be with others and enjoyed playing “Train”. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Frazier, sister, Lavene Sharp, brothers, Paul, Joe, John and two infant sons and grandson Brian Frazier. She is survived by two daughters, Tammie Koch and husband, Keith, Corn, OK and Janice Carley, OKC, OK and son, David Carley, Cordell, OK: two sisters, Genea Rahhal, Tulsa, OK and Sue Farris, Mustang, OK. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. The family has suggested those wanting to make a memorial contribution may do so to “Samaritan’s Purse”, 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, NC 28607. Samaritan's Purse is an evangelical Christian humanitarian aid organization that provides aid to people in physical need as a key part of its Christian missionary work. The organization's president is Franklin Graham, son of Christian evangelist Billy Graham. The name of the organization is derived from the New Testament Parable of the Good Samaritan.
