Tisha G. Featherston- Kinman

Tisha G. Featherston Kinman, RN, CPUM, CRC, 78, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Tisha was born on November 21, 1947, in Modesto, California. She was a lifelong learner who loved to read and continually expand her knowledge through research. Her interests ranged from vampire movies & books, fantasy novels, medical books, recipes, religion, painting techniques, and books about birds. Near the end of her life, she also enjoyed watching reels about animals and birds, which brought her great joy.

Tisha was very creative and loved art. She enjoyed watercolors, pastels, colored pencils, stencils, shading, and freehand drawing. According to Tisha, no picture was ever really finished.

She loved to cook and was a regular Martha Stewart in the kitchen. She enjoyed trying new recipes, perfecting every detail, from chocolate shavings and drizzles of glaze to egg washes and decorative pie crusts. When family visited, they were always welcomed with their favorite dish, whether it was her famous dinner rolls, pies, cobblers, tacos, spaghetti, meatloaf, or her oven-baked specialty cheesecakes, which were especially loved by her family.

Tisha worked as a Registered Nurse for more than 40 years, dedicating her career to caring for others. Her commitment to learning continued throughout her professional life. Her certifications and specialized training included Professional Utilization certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma certification, S.C.A.N. Child Abuse and Neglect training, Intensive Care and Trauma Units certification and training, S.A.A.R.T. Sexual Abuse Response Team training, and extensive training in trauma care.

Earlier in her nursing career, Tisha worked in a Step-down CCU and Trauma Center. She specialized in SICU training at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California. She later worked in the ER at San Luis General Hospital in San Luis Obispo, California. Tisha served as a Hospital Charge Nurse and provided care in psychiatric, infectious disease, cardiac, and trauma settings in the California Men’s Colony (CMC) Men’s Prison.

Tisha later spent years at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, Oklahoma, where she helped establish the trauma center. Her dedication to nursing and specialized training in trauma and critical care reflected her lifelong commitment to helping others. Over the years, she helped save many lives through her knowledge, skill, experience, and dedication to nursing.

Those who worked alongside her knew they could depend on her. She was known as one of the best trauma and cardiac partners they had ever worked with. Her calm presence, experience, and willingness to step in when needed brought comfort and confidence to those around her.

In the ’90s, you would have known Tisha managing her nursing career with Mylessa balanced on her hip, while toddler twins Isaac and Aaron trailed close behind. She was not only a loving and important presence in their lives; she was one of the most powerful anchors in all of our lives.

On July 16, 2009, Tisha married David Kinman in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They shared a love of the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and spending time at the lake. They were also quite the foodies, loving to eat and discover new places to dine.

Tisha is survived by her husband, David Kinman, of the home; her son, Jeff Zebkar, and his children, Shyla Nicole Zebkar and Taylor Zebkar; her daughter, Jennifer Meier, and her children, Liberty Don Meier and Logan Meier; and her daughter, Tara Powers of Elk City, and her children, Ethan Ray-Cross and Jacob Ryan.

She is also survived by Isaac Clark and her daughter-in-law, Caitlin Clark; Aaron Clark and her daughter-in-law, Kailey Clark; Mylessa Martinez and her husband, Jason Martinez, and their children, Adrian Cruz, Daniel Kayne, and Reina Jay. She is also survived by her sons, Josh Kinman and daughter-in-law, Valentina Kinman, and grandchildren Naomi, Braelei, Brylee, and Nolia Kinman; Justin Kinman and granddaughters Victoria and Emily; and Joe Kinman, daughter-in-law Caitlyn Kinman, and grandchildren Emery, Elizabeth, Noah, and Connor Kinman.

Tisha is also survived by her brother, Gary C. “Gig” Austin and his wife, Linda, of Counce, Tennessee; and her sister, Robin Wilson and her husband, Scott, of Graham, Texas. Tisha was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Fite and Edith Ann Fite; her brother, Michael Fite; and her grandson, Stephen Blake Meier.

Tisha will be remembered for her love of learning, art, cooking, reading, researching recipes, medical books, birds, animals, and the outdoors, as well as the more than 40 years she spent caring for others.

Tisha will be remembered as a great mother, loving wife, Nana, Memaw, Grandma, sister, and mentor. Tisha will be remembered for the memories she made with the people she loved. She was deeply loved, and her legacy will live on through her family, her friends, the people she cared for, and the many lives she touched and helped save throughout her remarkable life.

The family has chosen to hold a private service to honor and celebrate Tisha's life.
